Pool Construction
A short note on new builds and renovations, and how they connect to our seasonal plans.
Where construction fits with our services
Northshore Basin's three priced services — Spring Opening, Seasonal Maintenance and Winterization & Closing — are built around pools that already exist. New construction and larger renovations are a different kind of project: longer, site-specific, and not something that fits a fixed-price listing the way a seasonal visit does. Rather than skip the topic, we want to be clear about how it works.
If you are planning a new inground pool, or a renovation such as a resurfacing or equipment pad rebuild, we can talk through what our role would be once the build or renovation reaches its first season. That conversation is scoped and quoted individually, after we understand the pool, the contractor involved, and the site. We do not add a construction line item to our fixed pricing, because no two builds carry the same scope.
What we can offer, even before groundbreaking, is a start-up conversation: what equipment pairs well with the maintenance workload you are planning for, what a realistic first-season opening looks like, and how the Seasonal Maintenance Plan would apply once the pool is holding water.
Who reaches out about this
Most of the calls we get on this topic come from two groups: homeowners partway through a build who want a seasonal care plan ready for the first summer, and owners of an older pool considering a renovation who want to know what ongoing maintenance will look like afterward. In both cases, the construction or renovation work itself is handled by a contractor or builder; our part begins once the pool is ready to be opened and cared for.
We are not a general contractor and do not run excavation, shell installation or decking crews. If you need a referral starting point, a conversation with us can still help you plan the service side of the project realistically.
What we bring to that conversation
Equipment familiarity
Years of hands-on time with pumps, filters and heaters across Calgary properties informs what we recommend.
Seasonal planning
We know how local spring and fall timing affects an opening or closing date, which matters for a first season.
Plain quotes
Any construction-adjacent work we take on is quoted in writing, item by item, before anything is scheduled.
What we don't do
- We do not excavate, pour shells, or install decking — that work belongs to a licensed pool builder or general contractor.
- We do not provide fixed construction pricing on this site; every project is different and is quoted after a site conversation.
- We do not promise approval timelines for municipal permits or inspections — those are set by the City of Calgary, not by us.
Planning a build or renovation?
Let's talk about how seasonal care would fit once the work is done.
Questions worth asking before you sign a build contract
Homeowners sometimes reach out to us during the planning stage of a project, before a builder has been chosen, simply to ask what good seasonal care depends on. A few things are worth settling early: how the equipment pad is laid out and whether it is easy to reach for a technician, what cover system the builder recommends and whether it suits the local winter, and whether the pump and filter model chosen has parts that are easy to source around Calgary.
None of these questions change who builds the pool. They do affect how smooth the first opening and the first closing will be, and we are glad to answer them in a short call even before construction starts.
